Special-needs schools & EFA funding in Little Rock

Central Arkansas has schools built for students with dyslexia, autism and other learning differences, and the EFA pays toward them. Students with disabilities were the largest group of EFA users statewide in 2024-25, at 36% of participants.

Where these numbers come from. EFA enrollment, retention, spending and test percentiles are from the 2024-25 Arkansas Education Freedom Accounts Program Annual Report (Arkansas Department of Education with the University of Arkansas Department of Education Reform, October 2025). Enrollment, teachers, grades and affiliation are from the U.S. Department of Education, NCES Private School Survey (2023-24 public-use file; 2021-22 where a school did not respond in 2023-24). Tuition is not reported to either, so confirm it with the school.

The higher amount

Students who came into the EFA from the former Succeed Scholarship, a program for students with IEPs, foster youth and some military families, receive the full foundation amount: $8,011 for 2026-27 instead of $7,208. Ask the EFA office whether your child qualifies.

Therapies and evaluations

Beyond school tuition, the account can pay licensed or accredited providers for services such as speech, occupational and behavioral therapy and educational evaluations. In 2024-25, Central Arkansas families paid local behavioral health and evaluation practices from their accounts.

Questions for any school

  1. Which diagnoses and support levels do you serve, and do you have openings for my child's grade?
  2. Are therapies included in tuition or billed separately, and can they be paid through ClassWallet?
  3. Which assessment do you give, and how do you report progress?
