Central Arkansas

The local picture

Pulaski County is the center of Arkansas school choice. In the state's 2024-25 annual report, schools in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Sherwood, Maumelle and Jacksonville, plus Benton and Bryant in Saline County, enrolled roughly 5,218 EFA students. That is one of the largest local concentrations in the state.

The supply here is wide. There are nine Catholic schools in the Diocese of Little Rock's network in our directory, large non-denominational academies, Baptist and Church of Christ schools, an Islamic school, Montessori programs, and four schools built for students with dyslexia, autism or other learning differences.

Price ranges are wide too. A $7,208 account covers most or all of tuition at many parish elementary schools. At the larger college-prep campuses it is a meaningful discount, not a full ride, so the 'what's left' math matters more here than almost anywhere else in Arkansas.

Start or grow a school that families can fund

Central Arkansas has a dense network of churches, and many already run a weekday preschool or Mother's Day Out. That is the usual starting point for a K-6 school. The state report shows 12 to 40 student schools participating alongside the large campuses, so a small start can qualify.

Questions families ask

Central Arkansas EFA questions

Do Catholic schools in Little Rock take the EFA?

Yes. Every Catholic school in our Pulaski and Saline county directory appears in the state's 2024-25 list of participating schools, including Catholic High School for Boys and Mount St. Mary Academy. Parish rates still apply, and the account pays toward whatever tuition the school charges you.

Is Pulaski Academy or Little Rock Christian Academy covered?

Both participated in 2024-25. Little Rock Christian Academy had 637 EFA students, the most in Central Arkansas, and Pulaski Academy had 383. The account will not cover full tuition at either, so plan for the balance.

My child has dyslexia. Can the account pay for a specialized school?

Yes, if the school participates. Friendship Lab School for Dyslexia (Maumelle) and Easterseals Academy at Riverdale both did in 2024-25. Students who came from the old Succeed Scholarship receive the higher $8,011 amount. See our special-needs page for the Little Rock options.

We live in Saline County. Is that covered here?

Yes. We include Benton and Bryant schools: Arkansas Christian Academy, Our Lady of Fatima, Saline County Christian Academy and First Lutheran School. Little Rock is close enough that many Saline families compare both.

When can we apply for 2027-28?

The 2026-27 application window ran March 9 to June 1, 2026. The state has not announced 2027-28 dates yet. Returning students renew inside ClassWallet, and new students apply through the state's FACTS portal at arkansasefa.com.
